What’s the Best Way to Travel in Spain?
Travel in Spain can be fun and exciting with the right help and advice and a little bit of planning. All the Spain travel guides will tell you that traveling to Spain and through Spain is quite easy … which is very true … with a variety of options available depending on your budget, time constraints and personal preference. As a frequent traveler to Spain and having lived there for 6 years, I would eagerly trawl through every Spain travel guide I could get my hands on looking for Spain travel information to plan my next trip or getaway. Having visited the four corners of this amazing country and having had first hand experience traveling via most forms of transport (with the only exception of cycling and walking!) I've listed the best ways to travel in Spain to help you plan your visit:
Air Travel
There are a total of 47 airports in Spain which includes both international and domestic airports. With so many airports, getting to your
Spanish destination by air
quickly and effortlessly has never been easier.
Train Travel
The train network in Spain is quite extensive and the trains are modern and reliable.
Traveling by train
, for both short and long distances, is a very popular mode of transport with the Spaniards. In fact, it’s one of my favourite ways of traveling around Spain –
find out why!
Traveling by Car
The roads and motorways in Spain are generally of excellent standard and condition, and
traveling by car in Spain
from one destination to another allows you the freedom and flexibility to stop when you want to and admire the countryside. This is another popular form of travel with Spaniards and visitors alike.
Traveling by Bus
If you like traveling by road but would rather leave the driving to someone else,
traveling by bus or coach
could be the ideal option for you. Buses and coaches also provide access to those more remote destinations that do not have rail access – like Nerja for example!
Spain Visa Requirements
If you’re planning a trip to Spain, you will need to consider whether you require a travel visa and this will depend on your nationality and the passport you hold.
