Nerja Restaurants -
Our Favourites

There is a huge selection of Nerja restaurants and bars to suit all tastes and budgets.

There really is something for everyone and you will truly be spoilt for choice.

Some Nerja restaurants offer a lunch time "menu del dia" (menu of the day). This is a set menu at a set price that includes a choice of generally 2 or 3 starters, main courses and desserts. Some also include a glass of wine, beer or water and also coffee.

You can generally find a "menu del dia" for about 10 Euros. They are great value for money if you prefer a big lunch.

Note, for the locals, lunch time in Nerja usually starts at around 1.30pm and dinner time starts at around 9.30pm. Most Nerja restaurants cater for non-locals who may prefer to have lunch and dinner at earlier times of the day, but you won't find the locals out until much later.

In my opinion you don't have to spend a fortune to get great food in Nerja if you don't mind a no-frills restaurant.

To help you out I've listed below a selection of my and my families personal favourite Nerja restaurants.

For the best churros con chocolate in town try the little kiosk on the main road Avenida Pescia just outside the Iranzo superamarket. It doesn't look like much but in my opinion they are the best churros I've tried anywhere .... and that includes other towns and major cities in Spain! 1 Euro will get you enough churros for 2 people and for an extra 1.50 Euros you'll get a cup of lovely thick drinking chocolate to dip them in. The kiosk is open every day (except Tuesday) from 8am to 11am in the morning.

For great seafood "raciones" at very reasonable prices try Marisqueria La Marina on Plaza de la Marina. We always get "raciones" and put them in the middle of the table so we can sample a bit of everything. They also give a free "tapa" if you sit at the bar and order a drink. It's a no frills place, but the food is always excellent and great value. A favourite with the locals.

La Pata Negra is also located at Plaza de la Marina and does excellent Spanish food and tapas.

El Pulguilla on Calle Almirante Fernandez, no 36, also does great seafood raciones at reasonable prices. If you sit at the bar and order a drink, you'll get a free tapa. We love this place as another favourite with the locals.

For some fresh and cheap barbecued fish, I would recommend any of the "chiringuitos" (beach bars) along Playazo Beach. This is more of a lunch time thing and is where the locals go.

La Teja on Avenida Mediterraneo is another of our favourite Nerja restaurants. There are 2 La Teja restaurants, one is an a la carte which is the one I'm recommending and great for a nice dinner, and the other one is more of a snack bar/cafeteria.

Taverna de Pepe on Calle Herrera Oría, no 30, is a small rustic restaurant that's a little hidden gem. The bar is lined with "jamones" (ham legs) hanging from the wooden rafters. Very reasonable priced.

Moreno on Burriana Beach serves great Spanish food and paella.

If you want to try "Sardinas al Espeto", make your way down to any of the beach side restaurants at Playa Burriana.

Meson de Antonio on Calle Diputacion, no. 18, serves great Spanish food.

Buenos Aires on Avenida Mediterraneo is an Argentinian restaurant that serves great meat dishes.

Our favourite Indian restaurant is Curry House on Avenida Mediterraneo. Haveli on Calle Cristo, no. 42-44, is also very good.

Restaurante 34 on Calle Hernando de Carabeo, no 34, and Pepe Rico on Calle Almirante Ferrándiz, no. 28, are two of Nerja's top restaurants.

This is just some of our favourite restaurants, but I'm always adding more as we discover more great Nerja restaurants!

Nerja Tapas Bars

For something a bit different and fun ... why not try some of the great tapas bars Nerja has to offer.

For around 3 to 4 Euros you can get a drink and tapa.

Here's a selection of our favourite Nerja tapas bars.
