Nerja Holidays ...
So Much to See and Do ...

Planning your Nerja holidays?

Not sure what things to do in Nerja?

Whether you are visiting Nerja for a day, a weekend or a week, there is plenty to see and do in Nerja to keep you and all the family happy and entertained!

Nerja Beaches

Probably the first thing any visitor does on their Nerja holidays is go to the beach ... and who would blame them!

With 13 kilometres of pristine coastline, exploring the many beaches and coves is a great way to spend a day, a week ... or a month!

If you want to relax and unwind on a smaller beach, try Calahonda beach, Carabeo beach, El Salon beach, or La Caletilla beach.

Head for the famous Burriana beach to take part in more strenuous activities such as kayaking or parasailing,

Or to sample some local fresh fish and seafood head to the beach restaurants at El Playazo beach.

Nerja Caves

The Nerja Caves is without a doubt Nerja’s most popular attraction.

The caves have been formed over thousands of years by underground streams of water which have carved out large chambers in the rock.

Nowadays the underground streams have dried up, leaving behind the spectacular chambers and amazing stalactites and stalagmites which have formed.

As you walk through the caves it seems incredible to think they were inhabited as far back as 30,000 years ago!

Take a Horse and Carriage Ride

Want to add a bit of romance to your Nerja holiday with a loved one?

Or simply want a fun way to see Nerja town with the kids?

A horse and carriage ride could be the answer ...

You will find them at the Balcon de Europa, where the trip starts and ends.

A 20 minute ride around town will cost around 30 Euros.

The nice man who took my nephew and I around town during a recent Nerja holidays told me that they operated all year round except when it rained.

However, you may find that they don’t operate as regularly during the winter months as they do in the summer months.

Shopping in Nerja

Shopping while on holidays in Nerja may not be everyone’s cup of tea, but if you’re anything like my Mum and me, you can’t have one without the other!

And the shops in Nerja will not disappoint!

The main shopping area in Nerja is around the old part of town, particularly Calle Pintada and Calle Cristo.

Along these narrow pedestrian streets you’ll find shops selling clothes, shoes, and Nerja arts and craft shops

You will also find more shops along Calle Diputacion and also Avenida Castilla Parez (which has a couple of great shoe shops).

Shopping for Nerja souvenirs?

If you want a lovely reminder of your Nerja holidays that you can take home with you, check out the local Spanish ceramic shop called Ceramica Zayas “El Barato” on Calle Chaparil (corner of Calle Antonio Millon).

The sell all things ceramic from beautifully coloured ceramic tiled fridge magnets ... to large plant pots ... and everything in between.

Nerja Ceramics

I once brought back to Australia a beautiful matching ceramic set of serving bowl, platter and oil and vinegar bottles as a wedding gift for some Australian friends.

They absolutely loved it and thought it was the most original gift idea. Needless to say I was very chuffed with myself.

And if you’re from the UK and home-sick for English sweets, there’s a great English sweet shop in Nerja called All Sorts on Calle Carabeo. (That’s where we stock up on our favourite ... hula-hoops)

Nerja For Kids

If you are traveling with young children, there are some extra special activities that Nerja has to offer that the kids will love ...

... including a visit to the Nerja Donkey Sanctuary.

Nerja Activities - For the "Big" Kids

It’s not just the kids who get to have all the fun in Nerja.

For all those “big kids” out there, you’ll be surprised that such a small town can offer so many fun activities.

Here are just a few on offer:
