Costa del Sol Beaches Nerja´s Calahonda Beach
Calahonda Beach has to be the most photographed of all the Costa del Sol beaches.
Not only because it's such a charming and picturesque little beach, but probably more so due to it's location, right next to Nerja´s famous Balcon de Europa. There is an area reserved on the beach for the local fisherman, where they moor their fishing boats during the day when they are not in use. You may get to see the fisherman go out to sea in the evening time, but only if the sea is very still making it easier for the boats to get into the water. And if you get to the beach very very early in the morning, you may catch them coming back to shore with their catch. During the summer months, the beach bar "El Papagayo" is open for business and serves drinks, snacks and lunch. After dark it converts into a night bar, where you can indulge in a nice glass of Spanish wine while watching the sunset. A great way to end an unforgettable day on the Costa del Sol!

The beach is also equipped with sun-loungers and umbrellas for hire.Tip - If you want to be guaranteed a sun-bed, get to the beach very early OR reserve one the night before!
Getting There
You can only access Calahonda on foot from town.Just before you get to the Balcon de Europa, to the eastern side, you'll see a small archway called "Boquete de Calahonda". Go through this archway and start descending down. The beach is to your left.
