Out of Town Nerja Beaches

Most visitors to Nerja come here to enjoy the beautiful Nerja beaches.

Most beaches have facilities such as changing rooms, sun beds for hire, and beach bars ... and are directly accessible from town, so there´s no need for a car.

Out of town beaches ....

But if you want to venture beyond the more well known town beaches and stray off the beaten track a little, why not try some of the out of town Nerja beaches.

Unlike the beaches in Nerja that are easily accessible, these are slightly harder to get to ... and you are going to need a car to get to them.

The cliffs that separate Nerja from the neighbouring town of Maro and beyond hide a number of small beaches and coves. Getting to them will more than likely involve leaving your car and walking a few metres down to the coast.

Out of Town Nerja beaches

Many of these beaches are wild and do not have the facilities available at the more popular beaches in Nerja, which adds to their attraction, but make sure you take plenty of water and snacks with you and anything else you may need.

Here are a few suggested out of town Nerja beaches ...

Maro Beach

Maro beach is probably one of the easiest to get to and as such does tend to get quite busy during the holiday season.

It´s a medium sized sandy beach and has good facilities including a restaurant, showers and sunbeds for hire.

To get to there from Nerja, you need to cross the town of Maro and take the windy road that descends down towards the coast. The road will weave its way down past greenhouses and fields. You will eventually reach a small square. Try and park here. You´ll then have to continue on foot down to the coast.

La Caleta Beach

La Caleta is a smaller sandy cove which is protected beneath the Maro cliffs.

It´s a lovely little spot.

There are no facilities here, so remember to take everything you will need with you ... and don´t forget to bring it all back with you too including your litter!

To get to La Caleta from Nerja, you need to cross the town of Maro and take the windy road that descends down towards the coast. The road will weave its way down past greenhouses and fields.

After the first sharp bend you will need to take the road that veers to the right. Then on your right you will see two greenhouses, you will need to veer off again to your right here between the two greenhouses.

Continue straight and you will eventually reach a chain. You will need to park before the chain and you can continue on foot passed the chain down to the La Caleta.
